Update on Restrictions - July 17th

Lawn and Garden Watering Policy

Please be advised that Council has lifted the water restriction as of July 17, 2017, and watering will return to our regular policy as follows:

The policy assumes the middle of Main Street as the divide line

  • The East portion of town from Main Street and South Avenue will be allowed to water on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
  • The West portion of town from Main Street and 1st Street West (across the tracks) will be allowed to water on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
  • No one will be allowed to water on Sundays.

Some helpful hints when maintaining your lawn is to cut your lawn to a height of 2.5 to 3” and only water once a week with approximately a 1” of water. This will drive grass roots deep into the soil in search of moisture and your lawn will be more drought-tolerant as a result. Overwatering is also bad for your lawn's health and can contribute to the development of fungus and disease.

If you have any questions or concerns with this, please contact the Village office (306)468-2016.
