Next Council Meeting - December 7th, 2020

Please take note that as per section 6 of Bylaw 2016 – 03, a Bylaw to Regulate the Proceedings of Municipal Council and Council’s Committees, regular meetings of Council for the Village of Canwood will be held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. As per Resolution 221-20, the regular December meeting will be moved to Monday, December 7, 2020, commencing at 10:30 a.m.

As per subsection 13.6 of the same Bylaw, anyone wanting to bring forth any items to council’s attention at this regular meeting is asked to please submit to the office no later than the Wednesday, December 2, 2020, 2:00 p.m. immediately preceding so it may be added to the agenda.

*Please be advised that due to COVID – 19 Coronavirus, and to allow for proper social distancing, this meeting will be held in the Seniors Room at the Canwood Elks Hall, 640 2nd Avenue East, Canwood, SK. If you wish to attend this meeting, please be advised that the gallery will be required to sit at an appropriate distance from Administration, members of Council or any other attendee and wear a mask. *

Toll-Free Phone Line for COVID-19 Questions

The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency has launched a dedicated, toll-free phone line for people who have questions about the COVID-19 pandemic that are not health-specific. You can dial 1-855-559-5502 (306-787-8539 in Regina) between 6AM and 10PM for information ranging from government services to travel restrictions.

People who have symptoms or health concerns are encouraged to phone 811.


Rural Crime Watch Membership Drive

The Village and R.M. of Canwood No. 494 hosted a community meeting on November 29, 2018, to discuss starting a Rural Crime Watch. Those in attendance at the meeting expressed an interest in the development of a Rural Crime Watch Program.

The Ahtahkakoop/ Shellbrook RCMP are advising the community of Canwood to report all suspicious activity to the police. When reporting suspicious behaviour, please call 310-RCMP(7267). This number will put you directly with the RCMP communications centre where they will dispatch your complaint to an RCMP officer. 911 is used for emergencies, but when in doubt if your incident is an emergency or not, please call 310-RCMP(7267).

Please be advised that the Village of Canwood office has reopened to the public with the following restrictions:

Due to COVID – 19, we ask that you respect Physical Distancing by having only ONE visitor in the office at a time.

If the village office is occupied with an individual, please wait in the lobby of the building or outside if lobby is already occupied.

We strongly encourage residents or visitors to contact the office, prior to in-person visits, as we may be able to address your concern over the phone or through another method of communication.
